Camp Emerald Bay, Day 5: War Canoe!

Greetings,
This morning the troop left for our War Canoe Day at Parson's Beach. The troop packed their food, snorkeling and sleeping gear into canoes early this morning. At 8:30, about 20 canoes, 2 of which were filled with our scouts, headed off for the 2 mile canoe ride. I (Brian Finley), helped pack and load this morning, and I am staying back for a couple of hours to help with my sailing class. The 2 merit badge counselors are not allowed into the sailboats, so they've been putting the most novice sailors with me. The other boats in our troop are required to be towed out of the bay (except for the one I'm on). This is because during the first day of sailing, one of the boats ran into an expensive yacht docked in the bay. I'll go to sail class, then walk on over to Parson's Beach around noon to meet up with the troop. We'll eat, sleep, then wake up at 5am to canoe back to main camp.

Here are a few photos from War Canoe prep this morning...(I'll download them after sailing--sorry, but the downloading is taking too long. I took a few dozen pics this morning, so stay tuned!)
